Aerosmith say Aero-Verderci Baby! tour name is deliberately mysterious
Aerosmith have released a trio of videos featuring lynchpins Steven Tyler and Joe Perry talking about their upcoming Aero-Vederci Baby! tour.
Billed as their swansong tour, the sprawling European jaunt includes a UK exclusive headline performance at Download Festival – however, many have speculated whether these will actually be Aerosmith’s final shows.
Doing little to confirm or deny this, Steve Tyler says in one clip: “Well, we’re always thinking about what to do for a tour and so many bands have said that ‘this is our last tour’ to generate tickets and all that stuff – bands that have been around for as long as we have.
“So we figured we’d go to Europe we’re going to do whatever we’re doing here… people haven’t seen us for a while but throwing that kind of mysticism out and ‘AeroVederci’ says it but doesn’t say it. It’s like a “hello, goodbye” in one beautiful – where Joe and I came from – Italian saying.”
In the second video, Joe Perry admits that it wasn’t even himself and Steven who came up with the moniker: “We were just kind ringing out hands, trying to figure something out and (Steven) says ‘let’s get Tommy Higgins (Aerosmith’s road manager) up here, he’ll come up with something.’
“So he came into the room and we said what we were looking for and he said ‘how about AeroVederci?’ We both looked at each other and said ‘yeah, ok, try that on for size. Let’s see how it looks on the back of a bathrobe. That’s it!’”
In the third short video, Joe says that despite 40 years together, they’re still the same people they were when they started. You can watch all three clips below.
