The New York Post reports that Apple's iTunes has signed a groundbreaking deal to add never before released digital versions of Aerosmith's classic music to the service.

Apple and Columbia Records are expected to announce today that Aerosmith recordings between 1973 and 1987 will be available on iTunes on 5 Sept.

Aerosmith has had its more recent albums and compilations available on iTunes but its management had never been able to come to a deal over its classic recordings, which include the albums Toys In The Attic, Rocks and their self titled debut among many others recorded over nearly two decades.

Aerosmith are reported to be set to earn millions from the new deal, according to the NY Post.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Aerosmith's album sales rose 260 percent in the weeks since Tyler became a judge on Fox's "American Idol."

While the Beatles caved in and released their back catalogue digitally last November, some artists, including Def Leppard and AC/DC, are still holding out in order to retain the integrity of their albums.
