AC/DC Ticket Scammer Arrested
Woman allegedly stole $100,000 from AC/DC fans with bogus concert
An Australian woman accused of scamming nearly $100,000 from AC/DC fans has been arrested.
Reports claim that Leanne Herbert, 41, was arrested after she allegedly spent seven months in 2005 promoting a fake show by the band in Sydney.
She has been charged with "obtaining money by deception” after allegedly selling special tickets and sponsorship deals for the non-existent concert. Herbert is alleged to have scammed fans, businesses, charities and even schoolchildren.
Jam! Showbiz reports that police caught up with Herbert in late May after a representative for AC/DC claimed the band's management had never worked with her and were not approached about the gig.
Herbert, who has not yet entered a plea, appeared at Port Macquarie Local Court on Monday via video-link from the Emu Plains Correctional Centre, where she is being held without bail.
