Forbes magazine have published their annual countdown of the top-paid celebrities, which takes into account calculated earnings between June 2015 and June 2016.

Coming in at 17th spot overall, AC/DC have raked in much of their money over the past year from the Rock or Bust Tour, which has taken in over 70 stadiums and arenas to date across three continents.

Forbes comment: “The nearly half-century-old Scottish-Australian band hit a bump in the road when lead singer Brian Johnson had to drop out of their world tour due to a medical condition. But AC/DC found an incredible replacement – Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose, and so far, fan demand is undeterred.

“It’s a long way to the top, but the group is right up there once again.”

Other rock acts that feature in the list include The Rolling Stones (18th with £50million), Bruce Springsteen (24th with £45million), Muse (44th with £37million) and Foo Fighters (46th with £36.5million).

Pop singer Taylor Swift was named the richest celebrity overall with annual income of £128million.

Speaking about how the compiled the list, Forbes said: "(We take into account) numbers from Nielsen, Pollstar, Box Office Mojo, Songkick and IMDB, as well as interviews with industry insiders and many of the stars themselves.

"The result is the definitive index of who’s making what in the global business of fame… Fees for agents, managers and lawyers are not deducted."

Fronted once again by Axl Rose, AC/DC’s Rock or Bust World tour reconvenes at Greensboro Coliseum in North Carolina on 28th August before taking in a further nine dates across the US.
