AC/DC's music used to herd bison off roads
Police in the US state of Montana have come up with an ingenious way of herding bison safely and harmlessly off public roads – blasting AC/DC’s music.
The magnificent beasts, which can weigh well over a tonne, regularly traverse the roads around Yellowstone National Park as they search for new grazing areas.
A post on Gallatin County Sheriff's Office’s Facebook page yesterday said that safely moving bison off busy highways was one of their “unusual duties” and they often play AC/DC’s 1980 classic track ‘Hells Bells’ to avoid a Highway To Hell scenario.
“Being a deputy around West Yellowstone comes with unusual duties, including herding bison off the highway so no one gets hurt,” they wrote.
“When deputies respond to a bison on the road, they turn on lights and siren and encourage the animal to leave the road with an air horn.
“With a reluctant bison, they’ve been known to play AC/DC’s Hell’s Bells over the speakers – that usually seems to work.”
Back in July, AC/DC returned to their social media channels to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their seminal ‘Highway To Hell’ album. They shared a series of archive live performances on YouTube and launched a variety of merchandise.
Despite widespread rumours about a new AC/DC tour with Brian Johnson back on vocals and a new studio album, so far there hasn’t been any official word from AC/DC’s camp.
