AC/DC 'in talks for huge 2024 concert'

Fresh from triumphing at Power Trip festival earlier this month, AC/DC are reportedly in talks for a huge concert next September.
According to Brazilian journalist José Norberto Flesch, the hard rock legends have spoken to organisers of Rock in Rio about playing the 40th anniversary event next summer.
AC/DC headlined the inaugural Rock in Rio twice in 1985. An estimated 1.38 million people are believed to have attended the fabled 10-date event, which also boasted performances from Queen, Iron Maiden, Whitesnake, Rod Stewart, Yes, Scorpions, Ozzy Osbourne and more.
Writing on X, José Norberto Flesch said: ‘ROCK IN RIO WANTS AC/DC IN 2024!
‘The band has already been consulted. The next edition celebrates the festival's 40th anniversary.
‘AC/DC was one of the main attractions at the first Rock in Rio, in 1985.’
‘The band returned to the stage with a show earlier this month, in the USA, at the Power Trip festival.’
A September report in the Daily Star (so we’ll take it with a pinch of salt), claimed that AC/DC are eyeing up their first tour since 2015 and 2016’s Rock or Bust World Tour.
A ‘source’ told the tabloid: “For a while it looked like an AC/DC would never play live again. Technology has helped Brian (Johnson) get back to doing what he loves best.
“More dates are being looked at for next year (2024), some big shows.”
If true, Rock in Rio will be AC/DC’s second comeback show after Power Trip on Saturday 7th October.
Angus Young, Brian Johnson, Cliff Williams, Stevie Young and stand-in drummer Matt Laug tore through a 24-song set in the Californian desert.
Opening for the first time in their history with ‘If You Want Blood (You've Got It)’ followed by ‘Back in Black’, the set featured the live debuts of two tracks from their 2020 album ‘Power Up’; ‘Demon Fire’ and ‘Shot in the Dark’.
AC/DC also played ‘Riff Raff’, a song they revived for their shows with Axl Rose in 2016, but which they've never performed live with Brian Johnson before.
In another setlist surprise, they dusted off 'Stiff Upper Lip' for its first live outing in 20 years, whilst during ‘Let There Be Rock’, belying his 68 years, Angus still fell to the floor thrashing on his back during the solo.
After tearing through the likes of ‘Highway To Hell’ and ‘Whole Lotta Rosie’, AC/DC returned for a scintillating encore of ‘TNT’ and closer ‘For Those About To Rock (We Salute You).’
