Warning of flooding due to "significant high spring tide" in Cornwall
The Environment Agency has issued 8 warnings for the Cornish coast this morning (12/02)
There's a number of warnings from the Environment Agency this morning, who tell us there's a risk to flooding along parts of the Cornish coast.
At the moment, there's 8 warnings in effect, covering the waterfront at Newquay, Hayle, Penzance. Looe and Falmouth.
It's because of an extra high tide on Monday (12/02) - with the warning for the seafront at Penzance urging residents and business owners to be aware of a "significant high spring tide" due to a low pressure weather system and Force 5 north-westerly winds.
Expect tides to be around 250mm higher than predicted due to weather conditions.
The flood warning area includes, the Lifeboat Station, Foster-Bolitho Gardens, St Marys Primary School, Queens Street car park, Jubilee Pool, The Quay, Ross Bridge, the railway track at Chyandour Cliff, the A30 and B3311 at Ponsandane Bridge.
