An escaped wallaby has been spotted bouncing around streets in Cornwall.

The animal was caught on camera in Blazey, near St Austell, on Monday night.

Several people reported sightings on a local Facebook page and searches have been carried out to try and find the marsupial.

Pirate FM understands that the wallaby is still missing and the owner is said to be searching for it.

Anyone who spots the wallaby is urged to report any sightings.

Paul Bowden spotted the animal on his way home from work, in the early hours of Monday morning.

"I was on my way home from work in Wadebridge. It was 2.50am. I've turned into Station Road and driven past St Blazey football club and as I've come come out onto the other side of the road to pass the parked cars there is this object in the road.

"As I got closer I've noticed it's an animal. It then hopped across the front of a few houses and back into the road. So I stayed there til he moved on.

"Then he up the road and stopped again. Almost waiting for me to catch up. Then off he went and turned onto the path that runs along the river and would bring you back towards the football club. Lost him in the dark from there.

"Not what you expect to see at anytime in St Blazey."
