Man, 20, suffers multiple serious injuries after two-car crash in Hayle

Police say a young driver has suffered life-threatening injuries after a crash in Hayle.

The 20-year-old local man was caught in a two-vehicle collision on Loggans Road on Sunday night.

Officers have confirmed the vehicles involved were a blue VW Golf and a silver Mercedes.

They say a passenger in the Mercedes also sustained a serious injury and four people were hurt in total.

The incident happened shortly after 9.30pm and the road was closed through the night while investigators and emergency services worked at the scene.

Any witnesses who were in the area are being urged to contact Devon and Cornwall Police via 101.

In a statement, the force said: "Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision in Hayle last night (30th January) which left four people injured.

"Emergency services were called at 9.35pm after the collision between a blue VW Golf and a silver Mercedes on Loggans Road, Loggans.

"The Golf is believed to have been travelling towards Hayle from the direction of Connor Downs and the Mercedes travelling in the opposite direction.

"The driver of the Golf, a 20-year-old man from the Hayle area, sustained multiple and life-threatening injuries.

"A female passenger in the Mercedes also sustained a serious injury while the driver, a man in his 30s and from Penzance, suffered minor injuries. All three were taken to Treliske Hospital.

"A second passenger in the Mercedes also sustained minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.

"The road was closed for nine hours while an examination of the scene was carried out and vehicles were recovered.

"Officers from the Alliance Roads Policing Team are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and appealing for witnesses."
