Two derelict building fires have broken out in the same area of Cornwall within two days.

Firefighters rushed to reports of thick, black smoke billowing from an old plant room at Tuckingmill near Camborne on Saturday 15th January.

Crews from Tolvaddon received multiple 999 calls shortly after 3pm, before calling in back-up from Truro.

They wore specialist breathing equipment and used hose reel jet to douse the flames.

24hrs later, teams were called to a separate blaze amid reports of casualties trapped inside.

Officials from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service say the building was searched but no-one was found.

They said: "Crews from Tolvaddon, Truro and a wholetime officer attended a fire within a derelict building where persons were reported to be inside.

"On arrival smoke was found to be issuing and two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were committed to search for any casualties.

"After a thorough search, nobody was found and the fire was extinguished using a hose reel jet".
