Strong winds set to hit Cornwall
The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning
People in Cornwall are being told to expect strong winds later.
The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning which comes into force from 9.00pm tonight (30 March) until 12.00pm tomorrow (31 March).
Heavy rain is also expected to hit the region, with another yellow warning in force for parts of the Duchy from 6.00am - 6.00pm tomorrow.
The Kernow Weather Team have issued travel advice and say there could be a risk of localised flooding: "We are expecting heavy rainfall along with very strong to gale force winds.
"Very strong winds can present tricky driving conditions especially as strong gusts can cause crosswinds, particularly those high sided vehicles and these may veer sharply to counter react against those crosswinds.
"Also watch out for loose debris, this can be laying along any back road and compromise driving conditions all of a sudden.
"There is a risk of localised flooding, large areas of standing water and runoff from fields.
"Please if your out travelling especially overnight and into Friday morning please allow extra time for your journey."
What to expect?
- Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely
- Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer
- Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
