A number of major roads have been blocked by fallen trees as Storm Bella swept across the UK.

The A38, A419, and A388 have been among those affected, and a power cable also came down at Whitemoor near St Austell.

Elsewhere a car skidded, hit a hedge, then rolled several times before blocking the A39 at St Columb.

Firefighters were called to the scene before 5 am this morning. Luckily no-one was trapped, and the driver was checked over by paramedics.

"One appliance from St Columb attended a call to a car which had skidded on the road, hit a hedge and rolled several times blocking the A39 at St Columb.

"No persons were trapped in the vehicle but the driver was checked by Paramedics. Firefighters made the vehicle safe and recovery is being arranged for the car."
