Travel website Muddy Stilettos has revealed the results of its 'Best Places to Live' competition and Cornwall's winner is St Agnes.

The site praised its 'sustainable and creative community-focussed businesses', 'coastal living' and 'spectacular historic countryside'.

Wadebridge came second on the list, with Lelant near St Ives sitting in eighth place.

"Sitting pretty atop Cornwall's historic mining coast with a fab foodie high street with lots of indie shops, a thriving surf scene and a vibrant community spirit, we have a worthy winner!

"The hanging baskets were primped, the shop windows polished and it was a tooth-and-nail contest among Cornwall's finest towns and villages.

"But your votes in the inaugural Muddy 'Best Places to Live' competition have now been counted and (drumroll). we're delighted to announce that the worthy winner is...

ST AGNES!

"Gaining a reputation for sustainable and creative community-focused businesses thanks in part to the council-owned Wheal Kitty (once a mine, now a business park) on the cliffs overlooking Trevaunance Cove, this bustling large seaside village offers rural coastal living alongside spectacular historic countryside (its both a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a World Heritage Site, was once the centre of Cornwall's tin and copper mining industry, and a designated dark sky discovery area).

"Complete with buzzy cafes, a deli, bakery, butchers, greengrocers plus excellent pubs, restaurants and shops, St Agnes is well and truly on the up".
