'Number of people' injured after serious crash in south-east Cornwall

Police say a number of people are believed to have suffered serious injuries after a crash in south-east Cornwall.

Two cars are understood to have collided on the A374 at Torpoint, closing the road both ways.

Devon & Cornwall Police had described the incident as ongoing and drivers were being asked to avoid the area, however the road has since reopened.

The force said: "Police were called at around 2.35pm to the A374 at Torpoint following reports of a collision involving two vehicles.

"Emergency services are at the scene and local road closures have been put in place.

"A number of people are thought to have sustained serious injuries.

"Drivers are asked to avoid the area.

"The incident is ongoing".

Shortly after 9pm on Friday, Inrix Traffic and Travel said: "A374 in both directions re-opened, accident cleared between Goad Avenue and Pengelly Lane”.
