Woman rescued after getting stuck up to her knees in wet sand in Newquay

Firefighters had to dig her out with a spade

A woman has been rescued in Newquay after she got stuck in wet sand up to her knees on a beach.

Firefighters from the town, Falmouth and Bodmin were called to the scene just after 3pm on Tuesday afternoon.

Crews used a spade to dig her out.

She was then checked over by paramedics and returned home uninjured.

"One female was reported being stuck in wet sand up to her knees on a beach in Newquay.

"Critical Control mobilised one appliance from Newquay Fire Station, Water Rescue from Falmouth, Rescue Tender from Bodmin and two Tech Rescue Officers.

"The crew from the Newquay appliance were able to dig the lady out using a spade and waited with her until a paramedic checked her over and she returned home uninjured."
