The RSPCA in Cornwall are appealing to the public to help a Chihuahua who came to them in a "shocking state".

Jerry came into the care of the team with deformed back legs and an ulcer on his left eye. They say he has been struggling to get around for years.

The three-year-old pup has Bilateral Grade 4 Luxating Patella's, which has been allowed to get worse over time.

They say surgery is his only option: "Jerry now has a long road ahead of him where he needs surgery on both of his hind legs and months of physio to ensure that his surgery is as successful as possible.

"Our vet bill for Jerry is likely to exceed £2,000 but this will at least cover his initial surgery.

"Jerry is such a strong little character with a huge heart. He's not afraid of anything bigger than him and will be a force to be reckoned with once his legs are healed."

Jerry will stay in a foster home throughout his surgery, to be given every chance possible of having a happy and comfortable life.

Teams say he's currently on treatment for his eye, which is improving and is on pain relief for his legs.
