It is all eyes on the skies over Cornwall for the return of the Red Arrows, as the iconic jets put on a display for Falmouth Week.

The teams are having a busy summer following a string of cancellations over the last couple of years due to Covid.

We spoke to pilot Stuart Rovers, known as Red Two, ahead of the season, who said it would be his first time flying with the Arrows.

"Covid's put such a stop to all of these things. We haven't had a summer like this since 2018. We've got 64/65 shows this summer all over the UK. We're looking at the diaries and at the weekends we're bouncing around all over the place so everybody's excited.

"I've never formally displayed in front of the public so this summer will be my first go at that. We've obviously practised a lot at Scampton, we've had small events or people watching ad-hoc; we haven't actually formally done any shows yet".

The Red Arrows are due to arrive in the skies over Falmouth at 6pm on Wednesday 10 August.

The Falmouth Week website states: "The iconic Red Arrows will be performing their incredible aerobatic display this year at Falmouth Week.

"As ever this spectacular event is weather dependent so keep your fingers crossed for sunshine and blue skies!

"They will fly over Falmouth Bay at the event is due to start at 6.00pm".

It is safe to say the weather is definitely good enough but here is all the information you will need to watch them.

Where can I see the Red Arrows?

The FalRiver website says, Custom House Quay, Church Street Car Park and Pendennis Rise are among the best spots to get a good glimpse of the Arrows.

It also recommends Trefusis Point across the water, saying: "Somewhere a bit different, just across the water head to Flushing and then walk along the coast path/beach and pick a good spot. Flushing village is closed to non residents though from 1pm-7pm and there is no parking, so this is best explored by water. Jump on the Flushing ferry (check sailing times with the skipper) or park around the headland at Mylor and enjoy a walk around".

In Falmouth, the following roads will be closed between 3pm and 7.30pm: Gyllyngvase Hill, Spernen Wyn Road, Emslie Road, Cliff Road, Falmouth Hotel Roundabout, Pendennis Road, De Pass Road, Gyllygnvase Road, Gyllygnvase Terrace.

The advice is to use public transport where possible but all the information on parking and disabled parking be found on the Falmouth Week website.

It states: "We always recommend arriving early if you need more time park and find a suitable location to watch the display. However, security personnel on the road closures will do their very best to assist Blue Badge Holders to gain access to the display subject to safety requirements.

"If the sea front is already very busy, safety is always paramount but the security teams will advise and assist as required".
