A Risso's dolphin has been filmed racing alongside a boat off Cornwall.

The creatures with blunt heads and scarred skin are often active on the surface, leaping in and out of the water and slapping their tails.

However, Cornwall Wildlife Trust says they rarely bow-ride, like this one was doing on the Lizard.

The group shared this incredible video, shot by Becky Campbell, on Monday, describing the experience as incredible.

"Risso's Dolphins bow-riding off the Lizard!

"These magical creatures are known for their active behaviour on the surface, often leaping out of the water and slapping their tails, but rarely bow-ride and are typically quite shy around boats.

"We don't think this particular individual got the memo!

"Although this video is a great example of encountering wildlife on its terms, we unfortunately receive many reports of disturbance of dolphins every year in Cornwall.

"Help us take action to minimise disturbance and protect Cornwall's dolphins and porpoises by donating to our Dolphin and Porpoise Appeal.__

"Have you ever had an incredible experience like this before?"
