'Dangerous' dog on the loose at Bodmin Moor sparks warning from police

Searches were carried out on Saturday night but the animal has now been found

Police have confirmed a potentially dangerous dog that broke free from its lead on Bodmin Moor has been found.

The German Shepherd mixed breed was reported missing in the Rough Tor area and officers carried out patrols by car on Saturday night.

After receiving a call from the dog's owner, police said it is known to be aggressive towards people and livestock and was likely to attack if approached.

People were asked to call 999 if they spotted the animal and advised not to approach it.

Tweeting just after 10am on Sunday, Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed the pet had been found by its owner.

The force thanks the public for remaining vigilant while searches were carried out.

They said: "A dog that had been reported missing on Bodmin Moor has been found safely by its owner this morning.

"We thank the public for remaining vigilant while searches were carried out in the St Breward area".
