Police have released more information about a serious crash on Cornwall's A30 that has left a woman in a critical condition.

It has been revealed that a van collided with a stationary recovery truck, which was helping a broken down car, between Victoria and Innis Downs.

Significant damage was caused to all three vehicles with the van rolling on to its side.

It happened on the eastbound carriageway at around 1.15pm on Wednesday afternoon.

The van driver, a 64-year-old man from Wales, was not hurt but a 79-year-old local woman from the broken down car suffered serious injuries.

She was airlifted to Derriford Hospital by the Cornwall Air Ambulance and remains in a critical condition.

Crash investigators went over the scene and anyone with dashcam footage is being urged to contact officers.

"Officers from the Alliance’s Roads Policing Team attended the scene and commenced an investigation of the scene with officers working to establish the cause of the collision.

"Police are appealing for any witnesses who were in the area at the time of the collision and may also have Dash Cam."
