Police have released more details after a fatal house fire in west Cornwall.

Emergency services were called to Florence Place in Newlyn at around 11am on Tuesday morning.

A woman in her 90s was sadly found deceased at the scene.

Officers say the death is not being treated as suspicious and the woman's family has been told.

Fire investigation officers and police scenes of crime are currently working together to establish the cause of the fire.

Elderly woman dies following property fire in Newlyn

"Police were notified by the fire service yesterday morning at 11am, Tuesday 15th December, about a house fire on Florence Place, Newlyn, with a woman inside.

"Police assisted at the scene. A woman in her 90s was found deceased.

"Her death isn’t being treated as suspicious. Her next-of-kin have been informed. A file is being prepared for the coroner."
