Police launch murder investigation in St Austell

It follows the suspicious death of a woman

Police have launched a murder investigation following the suspicious death of a woman at an address in St Austell.

Officers and paramedics attended the scene at around 6.55pm on Tuesday (28 March) and found a woman, aged in her 60s, unresponsive and with serious facial injuries.

Despite the efforts of those who attended, she was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Enquiries are on-going to inform the family of the deceased woman.

A 36-year-old man of no fixed abode has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody at this time. It is believed he was known to the victim.

Officers remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.
