Three homes in Penzance had to be evacuated last night amid reports of a man making violent threats.
Police were called to the scene on Treweath Road at around 7.30pm on Wednesday, to negotiate with a male who was in a distressed and aggressive state and had barricaded himself in a property.
A 31-year-old was arrested and taken to hospital but he was then later de-arrested while a medical assessment is carried out.
"Police were called to an address on Treweath Road, Penzance, at around 7.30pm yesterday evening, Wednesday 21st April, with a report of a man making violent threats.
"Unarmed officers attended and tried to negotiate with a male who was in a distressed and aggressive state, who had barricaded himself in the property.
"Due to the nature of the threats he was making, the fire service also attended and approximately three homes were evacuated for around one-and-a-half hours.
"A 31-year-old man was taken to hospital for assessment at around 10pm and was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.
"He was subsequently de-arrested while a medical assessment is carried out today."
