Man dies following Truro flat fire

Investigations continue into the cause of a fatal fire in Truro.

Emergency services were called to the blaze within a property on Enys Quay at around 5.00pm last Thursday (27 July).

Officers have confirmed that a person died. A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:

"Police were contacted by Cornwall Fire and Rescue at around 5pm on Thursday 27 July.

"They were tackling a fire within a property on Enys Quay in Truro, and they requested police support for road closures and cordons in the area.

"It is now confirmed that there has been a death linked to this incident.

"Whilst formal identification has yet to have taken place, the deceased is believed to be a local man in his 60’s and his next of kin have been informed.

"No one is being sought in connection with this incident and police remain at the scene whilst enquiries continue into the cause of the fire."
