Police called to reports of a man with a 'sword' in Newquay

Police were called out over the weekend amid reports of a man potentially carrying a sword in Newquay.

Officers got the shout on Saturday afternoon, following a call from a member of the public who saw two men running down St George's Road.

Searches were carried out around the area but no weapon was found.

A 26-year-old man was arrested and released under investigation.

Anyone with any information is being asked to contact police.

"Police were called at around 3.45pm on Saturday 13th March by a member of the public who had seen two males running down St Georges Road and believed one may have been carrying a suspected sword.

"Officers attended and conducted a search of the area. No weapons were located.

"A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence. He has been released under investigation while enquires continue. "
