Woman suffers life-threatening injuries following crash near Lostwithiel

The A390 was closed for around eight hours

A woman has suffered life-threatening injuries following a crash on the A390 near Lostwithiel.

Police were called to reports of a collision involving a green Ford Fiesta and a white Citroen DS on the A390 in West Taphouse, at the junction for Braddock Church, at around 3pm, on Friday 20th May.

The Citroen driver, a woman in her 50s from the Liskeard area, suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital.

The driver of the Ford, a woman in her 30s from the Looe area, was taken to Royal Cornwall Hospital where she received treatment for her injuries.

A spokesperson for Devon & Cornwall Police said: "Local officers, as well as officers from the Alliance Roads Policing Team, attended the scene. Once a forensic investigation had been conducted, the road was re-opened at around 11.30pm.

"The police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information or dashcam footage that could help with their enquiries."

Officers would also like to speak to a retired/off duty fireman, who stopped to assist and may be a witness but left before police could thank them. They are asked to call 101, quoting the log number.
