The number of coronavirus related deaths recorded at Cornish hospitals since the start of the pandemic has passed 200.

A further six deaths have been recorded in the latest 24 period for which data is available (4pm on 4th February - 4pm on 5th February).

Five of those deaths were recorded in hospitals run by the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust, taking the total number to 152.

One was recorded in hospitals run by the Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, taking the total number to 49.

That means the total number of deaths recorded in Cornish hospitals since the start of the pandemic now stands at 201.

These are the deaths of patients who have died in hospitals and had either tested positive for COVID-19 or where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

As of 4pm on Saturday 6th February, 65 new cases of COVID-19 had been recorded in the previous 24 hours.

That takes the total number of cases across the Duchy since the pandemic began to 12,852.

On Friday (5th February), we revealed that more than 100,000 people across Cornwall had received the coronavirus vaccine, following the opening of two mass vaccination centres at the Royal Cornwall and Stithians showgrounds.
