No Covid patients in hospital in Cornwall for first time since last August
And there is just one coronavirus patient in hospital in Devon
There are no patients in hospitals in Cornwall following a positive Covid-19 test – for the first time since August – and just one patient in Devon.
The latest Government figures, which give the position as of Tuesday, June 1, show that across hospital trusts in the two counties, there is only one patient currently in hospital – a patient admitted in Exeter on May 28.
Devon’s other three hospitals are free of Covid patients, with North Devon and Torbay approaching two months without any, and Plymouth nearly two weeks – and for three days last week, there were no patients anywhere in Devon.
And as of May 31, and for the first time since August 28, neither the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust, nor the Cornish Partnership Foundation Trust hospitals had any patients in beds following a positive coronavirus test.
The CPT has been without patients since April 12, while the zero patients in RCH has occurred for the first time since October 2, but not since August 28 have both Cornish hospitals trusts had no Covid patients.
There have been no patients in hospital in North Devon since April 3, while Torbay Hospital has been free of patients since April 13 – the only day since March 30 it housed a patient.
Derriford Hospital has had no patients since May 21, while the Royal Devon and Hospital has just one patient, admitted on May 28. On May 25, 26 and 27, the RDE was also free of Covid-19 patients, the first time that Devon’s hospital had no patients since September 8.
There are no patients in hospitals in Devon and Cornwall in a mechanical ventilation bed.
The figures show how many patients are in hospital following a positive test for Covid-19, but not whether they were admitted for Covid-related reasons, whether they were infected inside the hospital, or whether their admission was entirely unrelated but they happened to have Covid at the same time.
