Newquay Hospital's minor injury unit has closed for over a week while essential building works are carried out.

The MIU closed at 10pm on 4th March and will reopen at 8am on 14th March 2022.

Patients are being directed to other local units such as Bodmin, St Austell and also Camborne and Redruth instead.

Services will be available at the above locations from 8am through until 10pm.

A spokesperson for the Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust said: "Anyone who needs help with a minor injury should call NHS 111. Experienced call handlers will direct you to the right service. They can summon emergency 999 help if needed.

"In-patient care has been temporarily re-located to St Austell since November 2021 to prevent disruption to their care. The short-term closure of the MIU will effectively close the entire site and allow the builders to safely complete key pieces of work.

"The inpatient beds are due to return to the hospital by the middle of April 2022 when the planned upgrade works are completed."
