Police have launched an appeal following an attempted robbery at a post office in Camborne in broad daylight.

Officers were called to reports of a masked man threatening staff at Tehidy Road on Friday.

The suspect is said to have demanded money shortly after 11am, before fleeing the scene on a bike.

Tehidy Road Post Office posted on social media to say they would like to assure customers that everyone is "safe and well".

They added the police remained at the scene and they would be closed for the rest of the day.

Devon & Cornwall Police are urging anyone with information or relevant dashcam footage to come forward.

A force spokesperson said: "Police were called to reports of a man attempting a robbery at a commercial premises in Tehidy Road, Camborne at around 11.05am today, Friday 23rd September.

"It was reported that a man wearing a mask entered the premises while it was open and threatened staff.

"He demanded money before fleeing the scene on a bicycle.

"The suspect is currently outstanding and police enquiries are continuing into this matter.
