An incident which closed a stretch of the A30 in Cornwall has ended with a man being taken to hospital.

Police were called to concerns for a person's welfare near Penzance on Thursday, and say the casualty suffered leg injuries after reportedly falling from a bridge.

In a statement, Devon & Cornwall Police said: "Police were called at around 1.25pm on Thursday 1 September to Eastern Way, Penzance, following reports of concern for the welfare of a man who was on the wrong side of the railings of an overbridge.

"It was further reported that he had fallen from the bridge.

"The man sustained leg injuries and has been taken to hospital.

"The road reopened around 2.20pm".
