Police incident in St Austell: Man in his 40s found dead

Tragically, the casualty was pronounced dead at the scene and his family have been informed

Police who were called to an incident on a street in the centre of St Austell have confirmed a man has been found dead.

Emergency services rushed to High Cross Street, following reports of the discovery of a body.

The initial call came through just before 6am on Wednesday 16th June.

Tragically, officers have since confirmed a casualty in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.

Devon & Cornwall Police say the man's family have been told, but his death is not being treated as suspicious.

"Police and paramedics were called with a report that the body of a man had been found in High Cross Street, St Austell, at around 5.50am on Wednesday 16th June.

"The man, aged in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next-of-kin have been informed.

"The death is not currently believed to be suspicious.

"Officers remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing".

High Cross Street remains closed between Church Street and Kings Avenue, while enquiries are carried out.
