Man dies following A30 crash with parked lorry just over the Cornwall border

The stretch of road was closed for over six hours

A man has died following a serious crash on the A30 just over the Cornwall border.

Emergency services were called around 6.15pm on Tuesday (25th January) after the collision between a silver Ford Focus and a parked lorry in a layby on the A30 westbound between Stowford Cross and Liftondown.

The car driver, a man in his 50s from Okehampton, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The HGV driver was uninjured.

The road was closed for more than six hours for a forensic examination of the scene to take place.

Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and asking for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.

They would also like to hear from anyone who may have relevant dash cam footage.
