Man and woman die following a four-vehicle crash on Cornwall's A30

Police have confirmed a man and a woman have died following a serious crash on Cornwall's A30.

Four vehicles were involved in Monday evening's fatal collision at Zelah, including a lorry.

Officers say the two people who lost their lives were occupants of the same car.

The incident happened at around 6.30pm between Carland and Chiverton Cross and part of the stretch was shut in both directions.

National Highways South West said closures and diversions are likely to be in place for most of Tuesday morning.

The road has now reopened, 19 hours after the crash occurred.

Witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage are being urged to contact Devon and Cornwall Police.

"Police were called at around 6.25pm on Monday 28 March, to reports of a four-vehicle road traffic collision occurred involving a Citroen Picasso, a Skoda Octavia, a Large Goods Vehicle and a Vauxhall Zafira.

"The collision occurred on the A30 between Carland Cross and Chiverton Cross in the area of Zelah in Cornwall.

"As a result of the collision, a man and a woman, the occupants of the Citroen, suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene. Their next of kin have been informed.

"All other parties involved in the collision sustained minor injuries.

"Local officers as well as Officers from the Alliance Roads Policing Team attended the scene.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information regarding it, including any dashcam footage, are asked to contact police on 101 quoting log number 0605 28 March 2022".
