Man airlifted to hospital after St Ives beach incident

A man has been airlifted to hospital after being pulled from the sea in St Ives.

Devon and Cornwall Police were called by the Coastguard at 11.55am on Thursday 29th October after a man in his 50's was pulled unconscious from the water at Porthmeor Beach.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics and was then airlifted to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Treliske.

Police say the man who had been holidaying in the area is thought to have suffered a medical episode in the sea.

"We were notified by Coastguard at 11.55pm yesterday, 29 October, that a man had been pulled unconscious from the water at Porthmeor Beach.

"He was treated at the scene by paramedics and airlifted to Treliske

"The man, who is in his 50s and holidaying in the area, is thought to have suffered a medical episode while in the sea."
