A lucky father has won the keys to his multi-million-pound dream home in Cornwall - as part of a charity prize draw.
Uttam Parmar, 58, bagged the latest Omaze Million Pound House Draw - an award-winning £3,000,000 four-bedroom Cornish house with panoramic views of the Camel Estuary - whilst helping to raise £1,000,000 for Blood Cancer UK.
Mr Parmar had entered every previous Omaze Draw since the fundraising platform launched in the UK in 2020 - and said the Cornwall house was his favourite - whilst exclaiming that "patience really is a virtue" now he's won his "own piece of paradise".
Uttam has also been given £50,000 in cash to help him settle in the property, which comes mortgage free, with all stamp duty and legal fees covered.
Uttam, who bought his £3,000,000 winning entry in July for just £25 - has been working as an operations manager at Alps Alpine for 18 years - and his wife of 32 years, Raki, has worked as a member of staff for a regional police authority for 23 years.
The couple have lived in their current house since 2017 but have a large extended family that live across the UK.
When Omaze first contacted Uttam to tell him he had scooped a prize, he was actually at the hospital and rushed back to find out if he had won the grand prize house.
A shocked Uttam said: "When Omaze called to tell us we'd won a prize, we were actually at the hospital.
"We were so excited that we might have won the grand prize, we called our son Aaron to see if the winning entry code matched ours - when he triple checked the numbers matched, we must've burst his eardrums screaming down the phone! Although, we still didn’t believe we'd won until we got back to our house and Omaze told us in person.
"I’ve entered every Omaze Draw since they started, so patience really is a virtue, as I've now won my own piece of paradise - this house is definitely my favourite one they've offered!
"I’ve always considered myself a lucky person, firstly because of my wonderful family – but I've also won a few bits such as a TV and coffee table – which I was pretty happy with to be honest - I never dreamed I'd win anything as extravagant as a three-million-pound-house though!
"We’ve holidayed in Cornwall over the years and always thought it would be incredible to have a place here - and now we do - we're still pinching ourselves".
"We have a large extended family so no doubt they’ll all be asking to have their next birthday parties here!"
“We're not sure if we'll rent, sell or live in it yet – it's the best dilemma we've ever had!
"Whatever we decide, it's a life changing win for the whole family!"
Uttam is free to either live in the house, rent it out or sell it. If he does decide to rent it out, local estate agents estimate that the property could achieve up to £15,000 a month for holiday letting during peak season.
Here's how Omaze have described the house
Uttam's grand prize home is a luxurious 4,200 sq ft property just a mile away from the picturesque village of Rock, on the North Cornwall coast and was crowned Best New Build in Cornwall 2020.
The house is set in more than five acres of land and has been designed to seamlessly blend into the surrounding Cornish countryside.
In a quiet and private location, the house sits in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Outside it has a south-facing, sun-soaked terrace with unspoilt views overlooking the estuary, as well as a hot tub and an internal courtyard with exposed brick walls featuring a large open fireplace.
The fully furnished property is a marvel of modern architecture – it has an impressive open plan living space with a state-of-the-art kitchen and dining room, creating a serene space for family life and entertaining guests.
The main bedroom has its own deluxe bathroom, whilst the other three well-appointed double bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms so guests can freshen-up after a long day at the beach.
The house is close to an array of fine sandy beaches and even has a dedicated surf wet room.
The surrounding area is ideal for a host of outdoor activities including - surfing, sailing, canoeing, water skiing, windsurfing, gig rowing, golf, cycling and scenic coastal walks.
As well as making Uttam and Raki multi-millionaires, the draw has also raised crucial funds for Blood Cancer UK, a charity dedicated to funding research into blood cancer, which includes leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
The charity is also committed to improving early diagnosis rates. Currently, a quarter of people with blood cancer are diagnosed as an emergency, as the symptoms can so easily go unnoticed.
The money raised will enable Blood Cancer UK to fund more crucial research projects – such as a clinical fellowship for five years, which allows a scientist to set up their own lab and embark on a new lifesaving research area.
This was the ninth Omaze Million-Pound House Draw and brings the total raised for good causes in the UK to £6,750,000.
