Lorry fire closes part of A30 in north Cornwall

It was affecting traffic heading towards Launceston

A stretch of the A30 in north Cornwall was left closed because of a lorry fire.

It happened in the Bolventor area, heading towards Launceston, on Tuesday afternoon.

Police have confirmed that the female driver managed to get out of the vehicle and did not suffer any injuries.

The eastbound closure was affecting traffic towards Launceston.

"Police and fire were called around 2.20pm today to reports of a lorry fire near Jamaica Inn on the A30 eastbound, Launceston.

"The female driver managed to get out of the vehicle and is uninjured.

"The A30 was initially closed in both directions.

"Westbound opened at 2.45pm but the eastbound carriageway remains closed at this time."

Devon and Cornwall Police

Recovery work has taken place and traffic has now returned to normal.

"Traffic returned to normal, earlier Lorry fire on A30 Eastbound between Codda (Bolventor / Jamaica Inn, Bolventor) and A30 (Fivelanes, Trewint).

"Lane one (of two) was closed but has since re-opened."
