Job cuts confirmed at Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service

Five employees in the Engineering Workshops will be affected

It has been confirmed that a number of jobs are being cut at Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service.

After a 30-day consultation in its engineering workshops, five out of thirteen roles are at risk.

No firefighters are part of the cut.

Bosses say they are "offering support to all employees affected."

A statement from CFRS says:

"Following an extensive review of work provided by the Engineering Workshops in Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service, which has involved engagement with other UK Fire and Rescue Services, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service has commenced a 30-day consultation with 13 members of staff who work in its engineering workshops.

"Affected staff have been informed that no more than five roles are at risk. The service is offering support to all employees affected.

"No firefighter roles are at risk.

"Due to the ongoing consultation, we are unable to comment further at this stage."
