Investigation underway following 'serious house fire' in Liskeard

An investigation is currently underway following a serious house fire in Liskeard.

Firefighters from four towns got the shout on Thursday morning.

Crews used jets to put the blaze out and have confirmed that that no one was injured.

The house has suffered serious damage as a result of the fire.

Police were also called to the scene to assist and fire investigation officers are now trying to work out what sparked the flames.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "Appliances from Liskeard, Callington, Looe, Saltash; supported by specialist officers attended a serious house fire in Liskeard.

"Crews used breathing apparatus, hose reel and main jets to extinguish the fire.

"Fire investigation officers are carrying out their enquiries to ascertain the cause of the blaze.

"This is all the information we currently have."

A spokesperson Callington Community Fire Station said: "Both Callington appliances were mobilised to a residential fire in Liskeard along with crews from, Liskeard Community Fire Station , Looe Community Fire Station , Saltash Community Fire Station and the BA support unit from St Austell Community Fire Station.

"On arrival we were met with a mid terraced house, smoke issuing. BA crews were commited for savable life, property and to limit the fire spread to the other properties. Crews commited were met with a well involved fire and quickly got to work to prevent further escalation.

"All persons were safely out of the property and did not require any medical attention.

"Unfortunately the property has suffered serious fire damage. Neighbouring properties were smoke logged but with no fire damage.

"Fire investigation officers are on scene to determine the cause of the fire and 1 pump from Liskeard remaining on scene to monitor hot spots."
