A fundraising page has been set up to help pay for the clean up following an illegal rave in north Cornwall.

The unlicensed gathering on Davidstow Moor took place across the Jubilee weekend.

Police estimate that around 1,000 people attended the event at its height and around 200 cars were on the site.

Police units including specialist public order officers were deployed to the scene where a cordon was put in place to contain the event and prevent further people from entering.

Forestry England has said the rave produced enough waste to fill six skips and "left a trail of vandalism in its wake".

The organisation has also said a specialist contractor will be required to remove the waste, "potentially leaving the forest closed to visitors until early August".

Party-goers have been praised for their efforts to clear the site of litter and now a Go Fund Me page has been launched to help pay for the cleaning costs.

It has already smashed its target of £1,000 and the total currently stands at £1,500.

The page reads: "The crews spend thousands to put these parties on for everyone to come to and stay to pick all of the litter everyone leaves behind. Resulting in having to hire many skips and trucks to leave the site as we found it and respect the land.

"We’re politely asking if everyone could donate some money to cover some of these costs that the crews have to pay for. It would be so much appreciated to see everyone get together and show their support!"
