100 'Santas' to zip wire over Eden's biomes this weekend
The festive event will raise money for Plymouth Hospitals charity
Over 100 'Santa's' will be zipping over the biomes in a Christmas event raising money for charity.
The event will take place on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th December, supporting the Plymouth Hospitals Charity ahead of Christmas.
Those involved will raise funds for the Children’s Ward by getting into the festive spirits by being kitted up in red hats, red suits and wearing white beards.
Jamie Lee, Lead of Engagement at Plymouth Hospitals Charity, said:
"Hospital can be a scary place and can be quite a medical place. What we try and do is provide the hospital things that just make it a better place for patients and the staff.
"It's things that just make patients' lives immeasurably better but is over and above what the NHS can actually pay for and just to make that a better hospital for people".
The event will take place at Hangloose Adventure at the Eden Project for people over the age of eight.
Jamie told us it is the second year of running the event: "We raised £20,000 for the hospital. £15,000 went to the Children's Wards and we had so much fun doing it. It's such a great way to start the festive period".
Plymouth Hospitals Charity wrote: "Hospital can feel lonely, scary, big, and impersonal.
"It can feel like your whole world is being put on hold. It can take you away from things that make you feel safe.
"The money raised for Derriford Children’s Wards will help to buy new equipment or toys and activities to help distract the children and young people on our wards, especially those that are feeling anxious, upset or in pain".
The event will run on Saturday and Sunday.
