Campaign action against Cornwall's housing crisis to take place in Porthtowan
The action led by First Not Second Homes hopes to make visual action this weekend
Campaigners will be joining in Porthtowan to take action against Cornwall's housing crisis.
The action, organised by First Not Second Homes, is happening on Sunday (3rd April) at 11.30pm and those involved are encouraged to meet beside the beach car park for speeches and a visual protest.
Many attending will bring signs or house boxes with messages written to the government.
Cath, a co-founder of First Not Second Homes, said: "We're campaigning for changes in legislation to be able to do something about the horrendous housing situation that's occurring at the moment.
"We're not seeing any action so we decided we'd make it a very visible problem. Our actions are a very good way to get people to take a look at something and highlight something without it being too confrontational and get it in the public eye".
It comes after a protest in St Agnes the previous month, where campaigners brought along house boxes with messages.
The same action also saw this graffiti message drawn on a wall beside Trevaunance beach car park.
Catherine told us she hopes the same visual messaging might continue in Porthtowan too.
She said: "There's some boards in Porthtowan and chronologically it names different campaign groups. It talks about the suffragettes, surfers against sewage, Greta Thunberg and Extinction Rebellion.
"We think that this campaign deserves to be on there as well.
"It's about changing something not just for people in Cornwall but people all across the country. It's massive, it's an awful problem and life limiting and it's life changing. In some instances it's even taking peoples lives because it can affect people to that extent".
