A hotel in south east Cornwall has announced it is closing for 10 days because of coronavirus.

Nine members of staff at the Talland Bay have tested positive for Covid and so the business has temporarily closed.

Bosses say reservations have been cancelled and they have apologised but say it is for people's safety.

They also confirmed to us that a few members of staff had attended the Boardmasters festival in Newquay.

They added that anyone with a reservation or room has been contacted and made aware.

It is hoped that the hotel will reopen on Monday 6th September.

In a statement on its website, the hotel said: "The hotel has had to close for 10 days, we are hoping to re-open on the 6th September.

"A number of staff have tested positive for COVID-19 & therefore we have had no option but to cancel reservations & close the doors.

"We are truly sorry we have had to do this, but it is for everyone's safety."

Revealing more information on Facebook, bosses added: "Looks like it is over!! We have had to close our doors for the next 10 days. I will be very open and say, we have had 9 staff members test positive for COVID-19.

"We have taken every precaution and followed the guidance and the virus has still got into our staff barracks.

"We have attempted to contact all of our guests who have reserved rooms and tables. If you haven’t been contacted, it is due to your information being taken incorrectly and if you are finding out through this social post, I am truly sorry that you have found out this way.

"We are hoping to return on the 6th September but this is only the next marker point to see if we can open.

"We have tried our best to contact everyone and we have tried our best in organising what happens next - it is now a waiting game, therefore please be patient, please be kind and please give us time to think and do the right thing.

"Any guests who have eaten, stayed or popped in for a coffee, I suggest you should have a PCR test done to ensure you are negative. NHS Track and Trace may have been in touch already. Apologies - Jack."
