A grandmother who experienced a dog attack last month says she still struggles to go outside one month on.

Our Take The Lead investigation into dog attacks has been hearing how a grandma was left traumatised - after she and her 12 year old grandson were attacked at a holiday park in St Ives in February.

Cheryl May, from Cornwall, and her 12-year-old grandson were coming back from playing bingo when the incident happened at around 9.10pm on Wednesday 15 February.

Cheryl told us: "It was awful. It was horrible, we just came out the clubhouse on to the road. We saw the dog and it went straight for him, then he started to run away screaming".

"Straight out of a horror film"

"Both my arms were badly bitten. I had bandages from my wrists to my elbow and a massive bruise.

"When something like this happens you definitely need counselling. I seem to be living with this hanging over me so I try and get myself better but it's quite hard at the moment.

"I'm still sort of traumatised by it and I've got scars on my arm now which reminds me everyday of the attack that happened that night, to myself and obviously my grandson as well".

Images show the bruising 12 days after the incident

Devon and Cornwall Police have responded to say enquiries are ongoing into the incident.
