The High Sheriff of Cornwall, Andrew Williams, has told us it was a "true honour" to read out the Duchy's official proclamation of King Charles III.

The proclamation was made on the steps of Truro Cathedral on Sunday 11th September, read in both English and Cornish - by Grand Bard Pol Hodge.

The High Sheriff said: "To be the High Sheriff at the time that has the honour of announcing or proclaiming the new King is just something that most of us would never get chance, so a true honour.

"Very daunting. Coming out and seeing - you're slightly tucked away in the background and then you come out and go 'OK, there's one or two people more here and also a lot of cameras'. And also to have it done in Cornish as well - I think it's fantastic for the Cornish language.

"Some things will remain the same and some things will be different. Each Monarch brings to the table a different set of systems and structures and I look forward to it; it's going to be an exciting new time".

Further proclamations will be read out in Cornwall on Monday 12th September, in Newquay and St Austell.

Flowers without cellophane can be laid on the green outside the church. They will be removed after Her Majesty's funeral for composting.

St Austell

A local proclamation will be made by the Mayor of St Austell on Monday 12th September at 12pm in Aylmer Square, White River Place.

The town council says this proclamation is to formally advise the public of the accession of King Charles lll and follows similar proclamations nationally and in the country.
