A new fund has been set up by the Cornwall Community Foundation to tackle poverty across Cornwall.
It is named after Charles Reynolds, founder and owner of a Truro based business CJ Medical, specialists in surgical and medical innovations.
The Charles Reynolds Fund will focus on addressing generational poverty in Cornwall.
The Cornwall Community Foundation says recent government figures show that in Cornwall 21,945 children were living in poverty, with most having at least one parent who was working.
In Newquay Central, Falmouth Penwerris and St Ives, for example, between 34% and 39% of children live in households in poverty.
"Growing up in any form of poverty can reduce access to resources, hinder development and contribute to the challenges of life long educational and professional attainment.
"I am delighted to establish a fund to help address the challenges of generational poverty and support communities in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly."
