A fox has been rescued after getting tangled in barbed wire in Penzance.

She was found in a garden with two two-foot long pieces of wire attached to her head.

Luckily a skilled animal rescuer from the RSPCA managed to save the life of the distressed animal.

Peter Ferris was called to the scene last Wednesday.

“As I arrived, I noticed the young fox in the corner of the garden with two strands of barbed wire attached to the side of her head.

“She bolted into a hedge and after spending a little time getting her out I was able to remove two 2ft long pieces in three stages before checking her over for any injuries.

“Thankfully, she was fine and I had the joy of watching her run free back to where she belongs.”

Despite the lockdown, the charity’s rescue teams are continuing to help rescue, rehabilitate and release the animals most in need through the crisis.

Peter added: “Wildlife is such a great source of comfort to people at the moment and we are so grateful to the public for calling us when they are concerned about any animal, just like this fox.”
