The Met Office has issued its fourth severe weather warning for Cornwall in as many days, for strong winds.

Forecasters say gales of between 50mph and 60mph are set to batter coastal areas for the rest of the weekend.

The yellow weather warning will be in force for most of the north coast until 11pm on Sunday, from Perranporth to Bude.

The gusts are expected to bring travel disruption on the roads, including damage to trees.

Power cuts are also on the cards, we well as spray and large waves in coastal communities.

The River Tamar, River Lynher and West Cornwall Rivers are among those still on flood alert following several days of torrential rain.

What can we expect?

The Met Office says high winds may cause travel disruption and we can expect:

Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely

Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer

Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely

Some short term loss of power and other services is possible

It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves

Damage to trees is possible

The weather warning forecast states: "Gales or severe gales are expected in many coastal areas in Wales and some northern coastal parts of southwestern England this afternoon before slowly easing this evening.

"Winds will gust to 50 to 60mph quite widely, and perhaps towards 70mph in exposed Welsh coastal spots.

"Inland, 40 to 50mph gusts are more likely".
