Falmouth has been voted as the best place to live in Cornwall in a 2022 poll.

As the desire to relocate in search of a more fulfilling life balance continues, lifestyle site Muddy Stilettos and Strutt & Parker asked one million readers to choose the best places to live outside of London.

Choosing from Muddy Stilettos’ Top 200 Best Places to Live guide, in a regional vote across 26 counties, Falmouth topped the poll of eight potential candidates in the Duchy.

From towns to villages, hamlets to commuter favourites, each of the 200 locations were independently picked by an editorial team and then over 24,000 readers went on to vote.

The vote revealed the strength of passion for each town or village’s sense of community, local facilities, and immediate surroundings.

Falmouth was voted as the most popular place to live for those who are not quite ready to ditch city life but still want easy access to the Cornwall coast and countryside.

Hero Brown, the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Muddy Stilettos said: “When people move out of London, they are searching for more than just a house, they want to find a new lifestyle that works for them. This exclusive reader vote will give them a fresh perspective to make their search easier.

"It’s hard to be confident on whether a location is the right place for you, but we’ve built our reputation on having first-hand knowledge on the coolest place to go and things to do in the outside of London. This Reader vote now gives a truly independent view on living after two years of Lockdowns in many towns and village with popular postcodes, schools, restaurants and more."

The Top 8 most popular towns and villages in Cornwall were:

1 Falmouth

2 Penzance

3 Rock

4 Fowey

5 Nansledan, Newquay
