A Cormac branded van, spotted at a beach car park in Cornwall, has reportedly been used to try to steal dogs.

The Cornwall Council contractor has tweeted to confirm the alleged incident in Hayle was not them.

Cormac's post says the culprits were seen tying cable ties to cars or houses with pets they wanted to snatch.

Officials have urged locals to report any suspicious behaviour to Devon and Cornwall Police.

"We have had reports of a Cormac branded white van at Hayle beach car park in search of dogs to steal.

"They have been tying cable ties to cars or houses that contain dogs they want.

"This is not us!

"Please report any suspicious behaviour to the police".
